Vegetabled tanned leather is tanned using vegetable matter, though the process does also include chemicals.  This leather is natural colour, and unfinished.  It’s best used for stamping and tooling, or hot embossing.  It can be dyed any colour and finished for your project needs.  It can also be wet molded to form around objects, like knives for a custom fitting sheath.

We have smaller cut pieces of 8/9 oz. Belgian vegetable tanned cowhide. We cut from the existing hide, so the shapes have irregular edges. A roughly 12x12" piece is approximately $25. We stock double shoulders of this veg in weights 2/3 oz. up to 8/9 oz.

They retail for $19.95/square foot, with a 15% charge for any cutting (e.g. anything smaller than the entire double shoulder).

Double shoulders range from 10-16 square feet.
